 Is the wholesale sector ready for wholesale change? This year’s FWD conference will go Fast Forward to the future of the channel. 

Wholesalers, suppliers, service providers, economists and futurologists will give their visions of our evolving sector, and share their advice for grasping opportunities as this dynamic route to market moves into a new era.

The day begins with the revelation of two major pieces of research. The Future of Wholesale is a major study commissioned by FWD and carried out by the Centre for Future Studies at the University of Kent. It looks at the direction of travel in technology, globalization and consumer behavior, and suggests future scenarios for the wholesale channel.

The second new survey, The Whole Society, looks at the economic and social contribution of wholesalers in the UK, from the customers they support to the jobs they provide and the value they add.

Among the wholesalers making the pitch for investment in this dynamic channel are Today’s Group MD Darren Goldney, Landmark’s John Mills, Bestway’s Dawood Pervez and Martin Race, and FWD Chairman Andrew Selley of Bidfood.

Providing insight and analysis we have Jill Livesey of HIM, Tanya Pepin of The Whole Sale Company, and Meadow Foods CEO Mark Chantler.

A personal view of the future of wholesale and the strengths it can play to comes from Karen Ward of Aditi, an organisational structure expert with experience in the wholesale channel.

Political commentary comes from Times columnist and member of the House of Lords Daniel Finkelstein, who also writes about football and will provide analysis of the England v. Belgium World Cup match in the evening, in tandem with Liverpool and England legend John Barnes.
