In January 2016 FWD carried out an extensive survey of foodservice operators to uncover the key challenges they face in today’s market, and how they predict these obstacles to profitability will evolve over the year.
The survey, by Cambridge Direction, gathered the views of businesses in four foodservice categories – schools, care homes, fast food outlets and pubs. The 400 respondents are all supplied and supported by one or more FWD member company, and the research set out to establish foodservice operators’ views on the support they get from their wholesaler and suppliers, and how it currently helps them meet these challenges.
Equally important, the operators told us what more they need from wholesalers, product manufacturers and suppliers. The full report is available from FWD, but here we reveal the top challenges identified by foodservice operators as areas where they need the support of their supply chain partners.
