At least one team of winners will return to the National Football Centre later this month, as the wholesale sector gathers for its annual summit at the FA’s Headquarters in Burton-on-Trent on June 30.
FWD’s 2016 conference, Winning in Wholesale, brings together wholesalers, product suppliers and service providers to identify barriers to growth throughout the supply chain and discuss collective solutions.
As a £30bn industry supplying and supporting 400,000 retailers and caterers, the wholesale channel presents an irresistible opportunity for brand owners working alongside FWD’s cash and carry and delivered wholesalers. With contributions from senior representatives of the Federation’s members, the conference explores how partnerships in distribution drive sales into new and underexploited markets.
This year’s event will also focus on collective action to reduce cost and remove complexity from the supply chain, with a specific emphasis on meeting the needs of the customer base, as identified in three new pieces of research to be revealed on the day. The event will also be the first opportunity to hear political, economic and business analysis of the effect on wholesale of the new legislative landscape after the EU referendum.
Bidvest Foodservice’s Andrew Selley, Booker’s Andrew Muldoon and Philip Jenkins of Sugro UK provide the wholesaler insight while Mary Barnard, President Northern Europe of Mondelez International will reveal how an engaged supplier can work with wholesalers to best effect. Customer insight comes from Ed Sibley of HIM and Richard Webber of Cambridge Direction, who will reveal the findings of an FWD-commissioned study of foodservice customers.
