Training
FWD signed up over 2000 candidates across the industry in around 40 wholesaling establishments to work towards a recognised national qualification - some of them for the first time in their lives. For this work, Don Greenwood was awarded the Federation's Gold Medal Award for contribution to the industry. Later, he founded the training company, Metice, and again began working with the Federation. In 2000 the company undertook a national training needs analysis across the entire wholesale industry (attached is the report and findings). As a result of this needs analysis, Metice developed a stream of training programmes to deliver across the sector bespoke tailored programmes, specifically for the food wholesaler and distributor. (attached is an overview of the programmes, plus some of the feedback from delegates). These programmes, which are certificated by the Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM), have been delivered over the past four years across the sector. This work has been sponsored and supported by the FWD with additional sponsorship by leading suppliers such as Tetley GB, Walkers and Imperial Tobacco. Recipient's organisations include: Booker
"FELLOWSHIP FOR MANAGEMENT IN FOOD DISTRIBUTION TRUST" FWD is one of the trustees for the Fellowship Trust, a small charity formed in 1968 with the sole aim of providing training or education for people employed in the food industry. For the past 22 years, the Fund's income has been concentrated upon placing students through the Certificate Course of the Institute of Supervisory Management. The Fellowship part funds the students participating in these courses which are provided by an outside training organisation, the remainder being met by their employers. A Fellowship Cup is awarded each year to the student adjudged to have produced the best end of course paper. Visit Metice here |
