Parfetts purchases Blakemore depot

Second Blakemore Wholesale cash and carry saved from closure

Parfetts Cash & Carry has extended its portfolio after announcing it has bought Blakemore Wholesale’s Middlesbrough depot.

It’s the second Blakemore site that has been bought in recent weeks, with United Wholesale Grocers purchasing the Gateshead depot last month.

The deal increases the number of Parfetts branches to seven, with existing warehouses in Stockport, Aintree, Sheffield, Somercotes, Halifax and Anfield.

The depot will start trading under the Parfetts banner on 25 June, with all 33 employees currently working at the depot set to keep their jobs.

Parfetts Joint Managing Director Greg Suszczenia said: “Retailers in Teeside will now join other Parfetts customers in benefiting from everyday low prices, a powerful three-weekly promotional programme, strong availability and expansive range.

“Couple that with the industry leading Go Local retail fascia, we’re certain the trusted Parfetts’ formula will prove to be a great success in this new branch.”

The news comes on the back of the announcement that Blakemore Wholesale was closing its site on Llandygai Industrial Estate in Bangor next month, while branches in Barnsley and Newport brands are reportedly set to close today.
