JJ Foodservice boosts delivery service

Customer-focused innovation by wholesaler shares product changes before delivery

Convenience is the buzzword for JJ Foodservice after the wholesaler launched software to show caterers any amendments to their orders before they arrive.

The national foodservice provider will now be providing notification emails to share changes to products, including weights and replacements, ahead of delivery – giving customers the chance to review them and make any further replacements themselves.

Before the change, customers would only receive an estimate of weight at the point of order with the final details confirmed on an amended invoice when the delivery arrived or at the point of collection.

Now, changes are included in the dispatch notification email, which informs customers that their order is on the way. A product alert informs them of any variations in their shopping basket, including changes to weights and the corresponding prices – together with any product substitutions.

The changes will make a huge difference to the service JJ offers, especially when it comes to amendments made to some of the most popular products on the list.

“Products like Frozen at Sea fish and fresh lamb are very popular, but cases can vary in weight by up to a few kilograms”, said JJ’s Chief Operating Officer, Mushtaque Ahmed.

“It’s important to let our customers know exactly what they are getting before we even get there. This helps to reduce the amount of time drivers spend on customers’ premises – letting them get back to running their businesses.”

The digital technology behind the improved service is the latest in JJ Foodservice’s armoury, as the wholesaler continues to lead the industry forward in digital innovation, which was recognised with the Digital Innovation award at FWD’s Gold Medals last November.
