Bidfood invests in digital foodservice marketplace

Foodservice wholesaler revealed as a key investor behind a new ecommerce venture

Launching in September and promising a fast and effortless way for caterers to order food and drink online, is an online foodservice marketplace, offering up to 900 lines of everyday products that will be delivered by courier.

The latest research from Mintel shows that sales of online groceries in the UK rose 9% from 2017 to £12.3 billion.

“We are in an interesting phase in the development of the market and there is no doubt that the digital channel will become more important over the coming years, especially as the millennial generation become more influential in the customer base,” said Andrew Selley, Bidfood CEO.
