Brakes go back to school
Foodservice wholesaler to teach children all about the best of British food
As part of Love British Food/British Food Fortnight (21 September to 6 October), Brakes has launched a school initiative that will explain to children everything that’s great about British food. Supplier Essential Cuisine will be visiting two schools whose catering operations are run by Brakes customer, Edsential.
Pupils will be able to learn about cooking, grow their own fruit and vegetables, experience salt, sweet, bitter and sour tastes by trying different foods, then prepare a salad made from fresh British ingredients.
As part of the initiative, Essential Cuisine and Brakes are working together to produce a co-branded recipe book.
“We are, once again, delighted to be supporting and promoting Love British Food/British Food Fortnight,” says Lisa Johnson, Brakes Sector Marketing Manager – Education. “We see educating children about the great fresh produce and ingredients available on their doorstep as a key part of our role as a responsible supplier.”
