John Farrell on track for SWA role

Former Unitas Wholesale employee John Farrell has taken up a new position at the Scottish Wholesale Association (SWA).

Farrell, who was business development manager at the buying group for a spell after Unitas formed, is joining SWA as member development and liaison officer.

The role will see Farrell overseeing relationships with wholesale and supplier members to encourage greater engagement and involvement with SWA.

In addition, Farrell will be responsible for recruitment and also work with suppliers and other partners on joint business and strategy development opportunities within the SWA.

“Wholesale is an exciting industry and SWA members operate some of the most innovative businesses in the sector in the UK,” said Farrell.

“The SWA is ideally placed to help harness that innovation through collaboration, training and using its position as a robust and social trade association to raise the profile of the industry as a great place to work.”

Farrell’s experience with Landmark and Londis – as well as his stint at Unitas – means his appointment will be an asset to SWA.

“We’re delighted to have secured an industry professional of the calibre of John Farrell to help strengthen our trade association for the benefit of members and the wider wholesale industry,” said Chief Executive Colin Smith.

“John brings with him a wealth of experience and contacts in the industry which will prove invaluable to the SWA as we navigate the many challenges – and opportunities – that we face in the future.”
