Harvest continue charity fundraising efforts

Harvest Fine Foods continue their support of Hospitality Action with Purchasing Director Mark Wright braving a head shave

Following Managing Director Richard Strongman’s recent skydive in aid of the same charity, Mark Wright had his head shaved on 7 September 2022 to raise money for Hospitality Action.

“As suppliers to the hospitality sector for more than 20 years, we have all had first-hand experience of the challenges of working in this sector,” said Richard Strongman, Managing Director of Harvest Fine Foods.

“Hospitality has still not recovered from the pandemic and Brexit, and now we have the added burden of rampant food price inflation and energy bills. The bleak reality is that most hospitality venues (and commercial caterers) are struggling to recruit staff and are working with reduced staff numbers. Operators are struggling to make ends meet and are having to make tough choices to cut costs wherever possible and inevitably this results in more pressure on staff. Consequently, the service provided by Hospitality Action is probably needed more now than ever before.”

Hospitality Action provides a confidential and independent counselling and advice service 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year, giving access to counselling and support with legal, financial, well-being and family matters. Harvest Fine Foods is part of the Country Range Group, which, for its 30th anniversary celebration, decided to concentrate its efforts on raising money for the charity.

“We subscribe to Hospitality Action for all of our staff and we believe it is important for our colleagues to have access to this service,” said Richard.

Speaking of his fundraising efforts, Richard sad: “My wife has always wanted to do a parachute jump and challenged me to do one with her. I wasn’t keen but it was a great experience, although not one I want to repeat! Meanwhile, Mark Wright, our purchasing director, also wanted to support the charity. He is renowned for having well-coiffed hair and so for him it was quite a big sacrifice to lose his shiny locks and replace it with a shiny head!”
