Tiger Foods moves from Hyperama to Giro Foods Ltd

Tiger Foods is set to change hands from Hyperama to Giro Foods Ltd in a deal announced today.

Birmingham-based foodservice operator Giro Foods has made the move to support its growth plans and has been lauded as an “ideal opportunity” by Managing Director Javed Sarwar.

“We’re excited to announce the acquisition of Tiger Foods from Hyperama,” said Sarwar.

“We’re very familiar with the Tiger Foods business and are delighted to have been able to secure this deal which will support our growth plans for Giro Foods.

“Tiger Foods has a great customer base and this is an ideal opportunity for us to grow our business and we are looking forward to working with our customers and suppliers while we incorporate the Tiger Foods business within Giro Foods.”

The acquisition works well for Hyperama as well, with the wholesaler saying the departure of Tiger Foods frees up the focus on to cash and carry.

“Javed and his family have been friends of ours for many years and this is an ideal fit which allows Hyperama to focus now on our cash and carry business,” added Hyperama Managing Director Marcus Singh.

“We thank all of our customers and suppliers who have helped us develop the Tiger Foods business over the years, and we wish Giro Foods continued success in the integration of Tiger Foods into the Giro Foods business and with further growing their business.

“Streamlining our operations in this way allows us to now concentrate on our core cash and carry business for the future.”

Both parties are Unitas members so the sale is of particular interest to the buying group, with Hyperama’s foodservice arm moving to Caterforce last year.
