Kitwave expands with acquisition of WestCountry

Delivered wholesaler The Kitwave Group has expanded its foodservice division with the purchase of specialist fresh produce wholesaler WestCountry Food Holdings

Established in 1856, WestCountry supplies local, regional and imported fresh produce in the south west of England.

The purchase, for £29m, adds West Country Food Holdings to HB Clark, David Miller Frozen Foods and MJ Baker in Kitwave’s foodservice division.

“The acquisition of WestCountry enables us to expand our product range to include high-quality fresh produce and complements our existing foodservice offering in the south west, following the acquisition of M. J. Baker earlier in 2022,” said Paul Young, chief executive, Kitwave (pictured above right).

“We are delighted to welcome the WestCountry team to Kitwave and look forward to successfully integrating the business into the Group’s foodservice division and further extending our nationwide reach.”

“WestCountry has led a highly successful, long-standing operation from the south west and therefore represents an excellent addition to the Group,” said David Brind, Chief Financial Officer, Kitwave (pictured above left). “The acquisition, Kitwave’s 12th since 2011, reflects our continued growth ambitions both through acquisition and organically.”
