FWD wins big at Trade Association Awards

The Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) has swooped the award for Sector Representation of the Year at the Trade Association Awards this week

The event, which took place 22 February 2024 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London, is organised by Trade Association Forum and supported by the Department for Business and Trade.

The prestigious award recognised FWD’s work to protect the supply of food to schools from wholesalers in response to rising coats and government plans to centralise national supply.

The judges were impressed with the planning and results of the campaign, along with FWD’s work to bring Government departments on board, resulting in an impressive win for members.

The judges commented: “The campaign took a methodical approach, building the evidence base, legislative lobbying, media work and parliamentary engagement, and secured both an increase in school food funding and a delay in the policy change that would have adversely affected FWD members.”

James Bielby, FWD chief executive, said: “It was a fantastic evening, and we are delighted to be recognised by our trade association peer group as the best in class for our campaign work.”
