Last month I attended one of FWD’s invaluable category evenings. This one, perfectly timed ahead of the looming disposable vape ban on 1 June, was focused entirely on tobacco, vapes and accessories.

As I left the event, with much more clarity around the challenges and opportunities still offered by this ever-complex category, I found myself returning to a key statistic. Lumina Intelligence shared research findings that revealed a staggering 42% of consumers were unaware of the upcoming ban on disposable vapes. While this presents clear challenges for the months ahead, this is also an ideal opportunity for wholesalers to engage with their retail customers – and in turn for retailers to engage with their customers – to raise awareness of the ban, what it means and how they can transition to compliant alternatives ahead of the deadline.

We pride ourselves on delivering a magazine bursting with advice and insight to support wholesalers to run profitable businesses. On page 34, you can discover how a wholesaler is supporting its staff with learning and development opportunities, and on pages 25-26, read up on the latest trends in beers, wines, spirits and ciders. There is also plenty of examples of incredible work in action, which we hope provides powerful food for thought.

As always, there’s much more in the way of features, news and insight to be discovered in your latest issue, which you can read here now.

Lastly, if you’d rather read in print but don’t yet receive copies to your door, quickly sign up for free here and make sure you never miss an issue of the sector’s leading authoritative magazine from food and drink wholesale’s trade body. And you can keep up to date with all the new stories online by following us on LinkedIn and signing up for our free email newsletter.
