Parfetts announces record turnover

Employee-owned wholesaler’s sales increase for the second year running

Parfetts Cash and Carry has announced record turnover for a second consecutive year with total sales up 6.8% to £345m. Like-for-like sales performance has seen significant growth up 16% (excluding tobacco).

“In a difficult trading environment with so much change in the sector, this strong performance is a testament to our company strategy,” said Greg Suszczenia, Joint Managing Director who credited Parfetts’ retail club schemes, promotions, everyday pricing and availability for the figures.

These figures follow the acquisition of Blakemore Wholesale’s Middlesbrough depot in June, which increased Parfetts’ number of depots to seven.

The group’s  focus on recruiting retailers into its Retail Club schemes is paying off, with 110 new stores joining Go Local, Parfetts’ independent fascia, in the past year. “A collaboration of great prices, strong promotions, extensive range and outstanding availability have all helped to recruit new stores from other traditional fascia sources,” said Guy Swindell, Head of Customer Development and Marketing.

As Parfetts is an employee-owned organisation, colleagues will now enjoy a 4% bonus on top of the 3% paid to them in October last year.
