Thomas Ridley unveils exclusive Russian listing

Award-winning wine range imported from Russia with love

Foodservice wholesaler Thomas Ridley has struck a deal to exclusively stock an award-winning selection of Russian wines from one of the nation’s most sought-after vineyards.

The deal to stock an array of bottles from Abrau Durso Winery will see the Suffolk-based company list Cuvée Alexander II Brut, Cuvée Alexander II Brut Rosé, Blanc de Blancs, Semi Sweet and Brut NV among its range.

Russia may not be renowned for its pedigree for producing sparkling wine, but the winery in the southern Russian town of Abrau Durso has been honing its talent to do so since 1870, after Tsar Alexander II issued a decree to start production. And with endless vineyards, a fresh marine breeze and an average of 320 sunny days every year, the town has grown in reputation ever since.

To become the only place stocking Abrau Durso wine is a coup for Thomas Ridley, with Category Manager (Wine, Spirits, Beer and Cider) Shane Fazackerley delighted to have reach an agreement.

“These wines are the finest in Russia and they have a fascinating history,” said Fazackerley. “The town of Abrau Durso has an incredible landscape and is perfectly suited to creating amazing sparkling wines.

“Perfect to serve as an aperitif or paired with various foods, we can help restaurants to present these wines to customers in a way that will pique their interest in Russian wines and they will not be disappointed.”
