Wholesalers come to the fore at IGD event
Three wholesale awards follow successful summit at IGD Live
A trio of wholesalers were celebrating glory at the IGD Awards as they were recognised for their work throughout 2019.
Pricecheck’s Debbie Harrison and Mark Lythe scooped the McNicol Entrepreneurship Award, while JJ Foodservice took the Supply Chain Excellence Award and Booker Group won the IGD John Sainsbury Learning and Development Award.
The ceremony came on the back of a two-day conference that saw hundreds of people from across the food and drink industry come together to discuss latest trends and best practice.
The Wholesaling Summit drew a host of familiar speakers, including Bestway Managing Director Dawood Pervez, Unitas’s Darren Goldney and JW Filshill Managing Director Simon Hannah, to analyse where the sector is heading as we enter a new decade.
JJ Foodservice, which was another wholesaler to speak at the event, was delighted to receive the accolade on a night when big hitters Tesco, Coca-Cola and Asda were also recognised.
“This is an incredible achievement for our team,” says JJ Chief Operating Officer, Mushtaque Ahmed (pictured above, centre). “We would like to thank the judges and everyone involved in developing the Estimated Time of Arrival feature [the development recognised by judges], which has helped to dramatically improve service for our customers.”
Held at Tobacco Dock in London, IGD Live was the first time the grocery insight company brought together its existing Category Management, Convenience, Digital Commerce and Food-to-Go channel events under one roof, making it easier for people from different sectors to share knowledge and network with each other.
“Growth opportunities exist both within, and across, grocery channels,” said IGD’s Global Insight Director, Ben Miller.
“By combining the very best of IGD’s established channel events with a fantastic line up of keynote speakers for everyone, we’re equipping our delegates with practical insights to find that growth.”
