Bestway selects Barnardo’s as chosen charity

Children’s cause Barnardo’s is set to benefit from Bestway’s annual race day after it was revealed as the event’s chosen charity.

In its 27th year, the event at Ascot is the largest in the racecourse’s corporate calendar with more than 800 people coming together for a day of fundraising.

Attendees supporting the event include many of Bestway Wholesale’s industry suppliers across retail, catering and pet care, as well as Bestway employees.

The Bestway Charity Race Day has supported more than 20 charities since it began, with Barnardo’s also named as the chosen charity in 2007.

To date, the event has raised £2.6 million thanks largely to the generosity of all the supplier guests who support the day through ticket purchases, the charity auction, tombola and other fundraising activities.

“We’re grateful to all of our supplier partners who continue to support this event every year,” said Bestway Wholesale Managing Director Dawood Pervez.

“The event is a great opportunity to bring colleagues from across the wholesale industry together in celebration of a great cause and we are pleased to see that after 27 years, this event is grounded into the wholesale industry calendar.”

The Bestway Royal Ascot Charity Race Day will take place on Friday 19 June, with tickets going on sale across the industry at the end of March.

“We’re delighted that once again Bestway has chosen to support Barnardo’s at their annual Royal Ascot Charity Race Day,” added Barnardo’s Chief Executive Javed Khan.

“The generosity of the attendees will help ensure that we can continue to support children and young people, carers and parents, whether they are dealing with mental health issues, recovering from sexual abuse or struggling to live independently after leaving the care system.

“The funds raised on the day will help ensure that vulnerable children are supported by strong families, can have a safe childhood and achieve a positive future.”
