Grocer Gold Awards

Three wholesalers celebrate Grocer Gold success

Brakes, Castell Howell Foods and Time Wholesale Services (Time) were popping the corks – albeit at home – as they each picked up a Grocer Gold Award.

Foodservice wholesaler Brakes took the big wholesale title of the night as they were named national wholesaler of the year, while Castell Howell bagged the regional award and Time won specialist wholesaler of the year.

The award winners were announced on Friday 13 November, with a host of big names – including Tesco and Asda – also on the award list.

For Brakes, it was the second big success in a week, after they were named Foodservice Operator of the Year at the Quality Food and Drink Awards only days earlier.

The award recognised Brakes’ customer-first strategy, which has seen customer satisfaction levels grow significantly and offering additional support wherever needed.

“Throughout a challenging year, Brakes colleagues have gone to extraordinary lengths to support one another, our customers and the community,” said Brakes CEO Hugo Mahoney.

“Winning this award is testament to the huge steps forward we have made in the last couple of years. We have focused on innovation and invested in technology to help us service our customers more easily and efficiently, while never losing sight of our passion for food.

“Being recognised with this award is a tribute to the dedication and team spirit of Brakes colleagues across the country.”
