Gold for JW Filshill

JW Filshill has been named UK regional wholesaler of the year in The Grocer Gold Awards 2022

Judges were wowed by the Glasgow-based wholesaler’s use of technology, recently upgrading its e-commerce site and seeing average order value via its website increase by 88% year on year. This investment also saw 13.4% of online transactions end in a sale versus a 3% industry average.

The effectiveness of Filshill’s app was also highlighted in judging. The app saw a sales increase of 108% compared with 2020. The development of Phocas, a new cloud-based insight programme, also proved invaluable in supporting customers.

The wholesaler was also praised for its “emotional intelligence and its commitment to family business values, whether that’s introducing a new wellbeing team that identified 87 positive mental health interventions to colleagues and suppliers, or sharing the savings from improved miles per gallon with drivers”.

“This award is testament to the hard work and commitment of every single member of staff over the past year,” said Craig Brown, Filshill’s chief sales and marketing officer.

“We’ve invested heavily in technology to support the growing number of customers who want the convenience of placing their orders online or via our app – this, in turn, helps us collate key data that we share with our suppliers to constantly improve customer service.

“Our wellbeing team has brought a new dimension to our business over the last couple of years and really cemented Filshill’s position as a family business that is always there for both staff and customers.”
