Unitas and Mondelez spread Easter joy
Unitas wholesalers and Mondelez joined forces last weekend to donate 78,000 Easter eggs across the nation.
The chocolate treats were distributed to foodbanks, care homes, hospitals, and frontline NHS and emergency workers in regions all over the UK.
One of the wholesalers who took part in the Easter giveaway was Dee Bee Wholesale, who dropped off more than 20,000 eggs in the North Lincolnshire area.
“This is such a difficult time for so many hard-working frontline workers across the local NHS, care homes and emergency services, as well as those who are vulnerable and in need, and we wanted to do something to do something to make them smile,” said Dee Bee Wholesale Managing Director Nick Ramsden.
Glasgow-based Failte Foods were also active, leaving eggs at 100 locations, including 52 NHS sites and 39 care homes.
“The distribution of the eggs took two days, delivering to more than 100 different locations across a 50-mile radius and it all went perfectly to plan,” added Failte Group CEO Jim Cummiskey .
“I’d like to thank the whole Failte family for their commitment to getting all the eggs delivered, as well as their tireless work and dedication to serving our customers during these incredibly difficult times.”
The initiative put plenty of smiles on people’s faces as they continue to face hardships as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak and Unitas Managing Director Darren Goldney was glad the buying group could do their bit.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that our members were able to work with Mondelez on such a wonderful project and spread some Easter joy,” said Goldney.
“Things are incredibly tough right now and being able to show our appreciation for the fantastic work carried out by NHS workers, care home workers and those in the emergency services means the world to all of us.
“I’m incredibly proud that our members hard work and commitment ensured the eggs got to those who deserve them most and am grateful to Mondelez for this incredibly generous gesture.”
