Sugro launches virtual networking event

Social distancing was no boundary to networking for Sugro, as the buying group held a two-day virtual get together.

Held across two days in mid-July, the event allowed wholesalers and suppliers to do one-to-one video meetings, providing an online self-seating option so attendees could choose who to network with based on business requirements.

The event saw more than 400 20-minute meetings take place, with the confectionery and snacking group’s members and suppliers lauding how “slick and effective” it was to work.

“It’s fantastic to see Sugro doing things that have never been done before, successfully,” said Head of Trading and Marketing, Yulia Goodwin.

“Covid-19 has taught us that providing advanced solutions to help connect and network both members and suppliers is crucial to success in a rapidly transforming strategic environment.

“I must add, Shruti Senapati, Sugro’s marketing co-ordinator, did an excellent job at coordinating and executing the virtual event single-handedly from start to finish.”

A number of wholesalers and buying groups are turning to online for trade shows and events, including an innovative portal launched by Brakes last week.
