Our customers include convenience stores, supermarkets and discounters; hotels, restaurants and pubs; care homes, hospitals, schools and universities; and any other business that sells food to the public.
Members operate in two channels; Retail, which accounts for £17bn in sales, and Foodservice (£13bn). However the barriers between these two routes to market are eroding, with many retail businesses now offering food to go or an eat-in option.
Wholesalers’ service extends beyond supplying products. They help their customers with merchandising advice, data on best sellers, staff training, ideas and inspiration and beneficial trading terms.
In addition, members work with thousands of Private Business Units (PBUs) which purchase in wholesale quantities for their own use, rather than for selling on. Individual members also supply to pharmacies and pet shops, and deliver on behalf of larger retailers.
